Sermig was founded in Turin in 1964, when E. Olivero and a group of young people founded a group with the aim of defeating hunger. That group evolved in Brotherhood of Hope, people who accept God in their lives at no condition and live their vocation in the present times.

It was founded in São Paulo (Brazil) in 1996 in a building that used to be home to thousands of immigrants. Now it is home to Brazil's needy people, the “sofredores de rua”, and offers almost 7,000 relief supplies a day.

Sermig has been invited by Jerusalem's Patriarch to open a house in Jordan. The Meeting Point Arsenal has been established in 2003 and welcomes both Christian and Muslim disabled children, giving help and support to their families.
